DKSH France was founded in 1939 in Lyon, under the name of Siber Hegner France, with the purpose of supplying the local industry with raw silk. At that time, Lyon was a very important place for silk manufacturing. In the beginning of the fifties, an office was created in Paris to benefit of the prestigious image in the world of the Paris city. This entity sold over the time a wide variety of products ranging from consumer goods to large machinery. In 1968, considering the significant growth of the office in Lyon, all the activity was centralised in Lyon focussing heavily on raw silk distribution. In the seventies, Siber Hegner France started its first diversification into leather in synergy with the silk and textile activities. Finally the decisive move of the company took place in the eighties where the company started selling raw materials for the chemical industries. This activity became its main business as from the middle of the nineties. After the merger between the companies Diethelm Keller and SiberHegner in 2002, SiberHegner France changed its name in March 2004 into DKSH France S.A.
